Engage Missions

Engage Missions

Why Engage?

According to Merriam-Webster the definition of engage is “to participate or become involved in” and that’s exactly what we are seeking to do, with the Holy Spirit’s help, in missions here at Trinity. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, “19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” – God is very clear in this passage, He wants us to Engage and spread the love of Jesus with everyone.

Where will we Engage?

In Acts 1:8, Jesus said, “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – As the body of Christ we will strive to Love, Serve and Shine locallyregionally and globally.

Engage Missions will frame everything it does through the lens of our motto LoveServeShine

LOVE – John 13:34-35 says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

We have received the greatest love, the Agape love of God.  It was given to us by God during the washing of our baptism, and we are commanded by Jesus to live a life of love and servanthood toward others.

SERVE – Ephesians 2:8-10 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Saved from sin also means saved for service, doing works called good because they are done by people made good by God’s grace. Christ is our salvation, since he has freed us, no one can burden us with something to do to be saved. But because we are saved, we turn right around and serve the people around us.

SHINE – Matthew 5:16 says, “16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”  We our light shine so that it brings others to God and so that Christ would be the focus of those on whom we shine our light. We do good works, we help those around us, we share the love of Christ not so others say what good people we are, but so that they would say how good God is.
